What genuine Lutheran would mourn the loss of a school that denigrated the doctrine of Scripture and ridiculed importance of faith in Christ? From Concordia Portland’s campus pastor: “You get what you’re looking for. If you want to come to a Christian school and develop relationships, deep ones with other Christians, if you want to deepen your faith, discipleship, yeah, you can do that here, … If you go, ‘All that hocus-pocus, I’m just here to get my degree,’ you can do that too.” The name “concordia” is not sacred and being an LCMS school does mean it will be orthodox, nor should it be blindly assumed to be so. –ed.
