The claim that all religions worship the same God is somewhat more acceptable in a false religion, but not in Christianity. There is only one God, but the incompatible names, doctrines, and ways taught to please Him are at odds. Only Jesus, God’s only begotten Son, reveals the grace and mercy of God fully. All other ways to God are dead ends. It is not enough to worship or give reverence: faith in Christ for the forgiveness of sin is the only way to salvation. All other ways end in eternal death and hell. So to participate in, or even give light to, the lie that other false belief systems are legitimate is to perpetuate a dogma of Satan and denies Christ.
The questions must be asked: which God? And what is His name? The answer for Christianity is that God the Father is only revealed in Jesus Christ, who gives us His Spirit to dwell in us. Giving the appearance that all religions are equally valid and helpful is demonic and untrue, since it denies the authority of Jesus and His death for all sinners. Salvation is more than a politically expedient tool, it is found in Jesus the resurrection and the life. “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). —ed.
